Mother and a Child

This Month's Poem

Mother and a Child

Where Ever You May Be

Like a floating tree

Sand without the sea

Lost without my mama

No Autumn leaves

No Spring breeze

And a Frozen summer

I got my grades

They were all A’s

A long forgotten dream

You were by my side

Asking where I’ve been

To talk to you

Tell you my news

Be in the same room

Hear your voice

Help make a choice

Be under the same moon

Everything I do is for you

I want you to be proud of me

I close my eyes just to see

Wherever you may be

I dressed for prom

Listening to our song

Wishing you were here

Down the aisle

Through my smile

Your memory a tear

My first child born

Just after dawn

Cannot erase your hearse

You whisper in my heart

A mother cannot part

I held your baby first

I gave you life

Now make it right

Live for your dreams

I’m by your side

Through all the tides

And I’ve always been

Everything I did, I did for you

I want you to be proud of me

I close my eyes just to see

Wherever you may be
