ABOAN
Autobiography of a No-Body
Truth is a concept until it’s found.
ABOAN — Autobiography of a No-Body is a darkly funny true story of sex, travel, trauma, memory and self-discovery.
What begins as one woman's hedonistic adventure through Southeast Asia and India — full of sex, spirituality, questionable decisions, extraordinary encounters and the chaos of backpacker life — gradually becomes something far more profound as fragments of a childhood she had buried begin to surface.
Funny, raw and at times devastating, ABOAN explores what happens when the stories we tell ourselves to survive finally collide with the truth.
The story was originally written under the name Derya, with identities changed to protect members of Demet's family. Derya is Demet. Now at a very different point in her life, she is ready to reclaim both her name and her story.
